Plant Health Care Harp-N-Tek™ products are based on naturally occurring Harpin Proteins that activate a plant’s intrinsic ability to protect itself through growth and stress-defense responses. Harpin Proteins and their activity were discovered by scientists at Cornell University in findings that were hailed as a major plant physiology breakthrough.
Harpin Proteins link to receptors that plants developed to alert them to the presence of disease pathogens. Harp-N-Tek products contain no pathogens, but the plant “panics” and turns on its self-defense and growth systems. Once this “inside-out” activity has been triggered, Harpin Proteins quickly disintegrate in the environment, having never entered the plant.
Years of producer experience with Harp-N-Tek products, backed by consistent multi-year replicated and commercial field trials, have shown that Harp-N-Tek results in improved plant vigor, stamina, nutrient uptake, stress tolerance, and reproductive growth, plus reduced nematode pressure. That all adds up to more yield.
Harp-N-Tek products are used at very low rates, have an excellent safety profile, the shortest re-entry interval, and are “Toxicity Category IV” products (reserved for materials with the lowest hazard potential) by the EPA. They leave no detectable residue. For example, in soybeans N-Hibit™ Seed Treatment has been tested at 100 times field application rates and no Harpin Protein was detected on the harvested soybeans.
